Vacancy for an Experienced Cook
Tablehurst Farm has a well-established commercial kitchen producing food products for sale through our shop and café. The main product categories at present are pies, quiches and other savoury pastry goods, and ready meals such as shepherd’s pie. We have plans to both expand production of our current lines and to substantially widen the range of products we make to include more vegetarian and vegan options, fresh soups, pasta sauces, vegetable tarts, sauerkraut, veggie burgers and, possibly, charcuterie. To meet these objectives, we need a second cook to join our team.
We are looking for a cook with at least three years’ experience in a commercial environment. Although designing and testing new products will be part of the role, the main task is production. The ability to undertake batch cooking, work efficiently, and produce consistent products to exacting standards will be the most important criteria for selection.
This is a full-time position. Our standard working hours are 8.00am to 5.30pm with an hour’s lunch break. Working days may include weekends, but this will be discussed with candidates at interview. We are offering a salary of £23,000 to £25,000 depending on experience. We also offer a pension scheme, a free two course staff lunch, and a 20% staff discount in our farm shop and café.

Significant experience of cooking in a professional environment
Recognises that the main focus of the job is on efficient, consistent production
Capable of developing and testing new recipes, devising packaging solutions and costing ingredients
Good knowledge of food safety regulations and a commitment to complying with them
A strong work ethic, and the ability to cope with a physically demanding job
An interest in Tablehurst Farm and a desire to learn more about biodynamic farming
