The Care Home
Ever since Tablehurst Farm became community-owned in the mid 1990s, it has had a small residential care home as a core part of its activities and social purpose. We offer a real home in a family-type setting to three adults with learning disabilities, each of whom has been with us for many years. The care home is registered with and regulated by the Care Quality Commission. Our most recent inspection was in July 2019 and we were rated ‘Good’ in each inspection category.

Welcoming Yulia
Yulia is our new Care Home Manager at Tablehurst Farm.

Yulia grew up in St. Petersburg, Russia, went to a Waldorf School, and since she was six years old she had a passion for theatre. After competing her BA in Acting she came to England in 2010 and completed a further 5-year training in Speech and Drama at Peredur Centre for the Arts. She has worked creatively with children, young adults and people with learning difficulties in Russia, Europe, China, and in the UK.
For the past five years, Yulia has been a House Coordinator at Nutley Hall (residential care home and craft workshop for people with learning g difficulties).

Yulia lives with her husband, Alex (a director of "The Sussex Kitchen" Bakery) in East Grinstead and is a lover of art, history, dogs and the colour purple.

A busy and fulfilling life
During the week, our residents work with the farm, garden and kitchen staff on a variety of tasks. These include: feeding the animals, preparing vegetables for sale via the farm shop, producing firewood for heating, helping to cook the farm lunches, weeding in the polytunnels and garden and preparing ingredients for Tablehurst's pie kitchen products.
In their leisure time, our residents can take part in a wide range of activities, such as drama and social groups, art and speech therapy, swimming, cycling, shopping trips, and outings to the gym, plays, films and pubs. They also look after their own rooms and laundry and help with keep the care home clean.
Being part of a community
Living in a small care home that specialises in adults with similar needs, and working on real tasks alongside farm staff, our residents can experience both meaningful work and life satisfaction. This comes not only through being part of an enthusiastic team but also through knowing that they are an integral and cherished part of Tablehurst Farm and the wider local community.
